Rookie Republic is proud to stage the best Rookies for Life, driven entrepreneurs. Meet Sabine, who participated in the Rookie Challenge in 2012. During the contest she surprised everybody by quitting her day job and just went for it. Now a little over 2 years later she is making a name for herself in the PR business. We are so proud!
Why did you decide to participate at the Rookie Challenge?
I have been infused with the entrepreneurial spirit as both of my parents are entrepreneurs. After finishing college I started working in the Dutch media industry. During this period I worked closely with numerous PR agencies and came to the conclusion that my interest lay in the marketing PR area. Therefore I decided to start my very own agency.
What was your motivation to start up your own business?
Traditional PR agencies in my opinion weren’t amplifying digital and traditional press successfully in my opinion. My main motivation was to set out and change this as an entrepreneur.
What were your first steps?
I enrolled in the Rookie Republic program. This challenged me to write a business plan, and quit my day job to get this started.
Why was Rookie Republic important to you?
It was super inspirational and it gave me the last push to do what I was dreaming of. One of the main benefits of being a Rookie for Life is that you can tap into the network of other Rookies that is made up of other inspirational entrepreneurs.
How has Rookie Republic helped you?
Organizing a weekend with professional entrepreneurs and experts to inspire and help making up a business plan. It’s good to hear their successes and failures. And after all it’s a good network to have, even now I’m still connected with some of them.
Why do your clients love you?
We think different and work custom made per brand. We believe in the total package of earned, owned, paid media. We believe any brand can be MADE BY PR.
What’s your ambition for the next 5 years?
At the moment we are successful with a solid client base. Our main objective over the next 5 years is to keep on growing and eventually become a major player in the Dutch PR industry for different lifestyle brands.
What’s the best advice you can give a Rookie?
If you are dreaming of being an entrepreneur and you think/know you have an unique product or service, just do it! If you believe in it everything is possible, just work hard and you will see the results.
